Shaping The Future Of Farming & Resilient Food Systems In An Uncertain World
The Future of Food & AgTech Summit is where the agri-food-tech ecosystem gathers. The best thinkers, visionaries and disruptors discuss, debate and define the future of Ghana’s food system. It is a platform for broad conversations and deep discussions that explores a wide range of subjects central to the evolution of food and agriculture.
The overarching goal is to provide a world-class stage for exploring ideas and opportunities to create and transform a modern agri-food industry through advanced technology, responsible investment, and sustainable development, in line with the UN SDG Goal 2.
The inaugural event which took place on October 13, 2022 online, brought together farmers, industry leaders, scientists, and NGO representatives, to proffer their perspectives on the way forward for a resilient agri-food-tech systems through exclusive interviews and thought-provoking panel discussions. The sessions zoomed in on a wide array of topics including climate-smart agriculture, outlook for a sustainable food system, industry/academia collaboration and investment opportunities.
In 2023, the Future of Food & AgTech Summit which will take place as an in-person event will deep dive into strategies to foster a resilient food system. With our food system increasingly under stress from climate change and under-investment, the summit aims to put sustainability and restorative agriculture practices as well as sustainable investments at the heart of the conversation.

Agriculture finance: Can we remodel the future?
The agricultural sector has been left largely to informal sector financing mechanisms over
the years.
Why is this important sector the least funded sector in Ghana by the formal financial sources
despite being the largest sector in terms of GDP contribution? (at over 50% GDP
contribution directly and indirectly)?
Where do the current formal financing models fall short?
Is Ghana ripe for fresh modelling of agricultural financing?
How can we incentivise both financiers and agricultural value chain actors to take on the
investment risks?

Smallholder Farming & sustainability
Farmers, producers, growers - whatever you call them, the actions they’re taking in their fields and at their farms offer huge opportunities to improve the environmental footprint of agriculture supply chains. In a series of short case study presentations, farmers from across commodity sectors will share real-world examples of the innovative ways they are addressing sustainability on their operations, before coming together to answer your questions and discuss how industry-wide collaboration could help scale similar efforts in economically viable ways on farms across the country.
